Receive $2,500 in direct deposits in 90 days

Eligibility
New checking members only. You cannot hold a current Suffolk checking account or have closed one in the past 90 days, and previous Suffolk checking bonus recipients are excluded.
- Membership is limited to people who live, work, worship, attend school, or volunteer in Nassau County, New York, or in the Suffolk County towns of Babylon, Brookhaven, Huntington, Islip, Riverhead, Smithtown, or Southold, or on the Poospatuck Reservation. Immediate family of a current member also qualifies.
- Joining takes a $5 deposit into a Share Savings account, which is your membership share.
- You need a U.S. Taxpayer Identification Number and U.S. citizenship or resident alien status.
- The bonus cannot be combined with any other Suffolk checking bonus, including the Corporate Partner Program.
- If you live outside Suffolk or Nassau County but still meet the membership rules, Suffolk asks you to apply at a branch or by phone rather than online.
Tips & Gotchas
- →Doctor of Credit still describes an older Suffolk offer paying $100 a month for three months with no direct deposit required. The credit union’s own page now shows the direct deposit structure below, so plan for real payroll deposits.
- →Only true payroll, pension, or Social Security deposits count. Pushes from another bank, Venmo, Zelle, and mobile check deposits are all excluded by name.
- →The account has to be opened by September 7, 2026.
- →Momentum Checking has no monthly service fee and no minimum balance to avoid one, so nothing eats into the bonus while you wait.
- →Membership is geographic. If you live outside Nassau or Suffolk County but still qualify some other way, Suffolk asks you to apply at a branch or by phone instead of online.

Fine Print
Offer valid for new accounts opened May 22 to September 7, 2026, to members without a current Suffolk checking account or one closed in the past 90 days. Cannot be combined with any other checking bonus offer including the Corporate Partner Program. Members who have previously received a new checking account bonus are ineligible. To receive bonuses, the enrolled account must not be closed, negative, or restricted at the time of payout. Set up and receive qualifying direct deposits into the eligible Momentum Checking account during Deposit Period #1 (within 90 days of account opening) totaling $2,500 to receive the first bonus of $250. Receive qualifying direct deposits during Deposit Period #2 (on or between day 91 and day 180 of account opening) totaling $2,500 to receive the second bonus of $250. At the end of each deposit period all qualifying direct deposits are totaled to determine eligibility, and the earned $250 is deposited within 10 business days of the end of each qualifying period. A qualifying direct deposit is a direct deposit of regular monthly income (payroll, pension, or Social Security benefits, made by your employer or other payer) using account and routing numbers that you provide to them. Teller deposits, wire transfers, debit card transfers, ATM transfers or deposits, online and mobile banking transfers or deposits, transfers from peer-to-peer payment apps such as Venmo or Zelle, and transfers from a bank or brokerage do not qualify. Bonuses are subject to taxation. All account applications are subject to approval.

What is a direct deposit?
An electronic payment sent directly into your bank account, usually from an employer or government.
Does Zelle Count as Direct Deposit for Bank Bonuses?
Usually no. At most banks a Zelle payment arrives coded as peer-to-peer and will not trigger the bonus. Citi is the clear exception. Its Enhanced Direct Deposit terms name Zelle as a qualifying deposit, and every Zelle report we have from Citi got paid.
What is a hold period?
The minimum time you must keep your balance in an account before the bonus is paid out.
