Tips & Gotchas
- →There are two ways to clear the deposit requirement. Either $250 in total direct deposits or a single third-party automatic draft of $25 or more. That second path is rare and it means you can qualify without redirecting a paycheck.
- →The 15 debit card purchases are the real work here. That is about two a week for two months, and they have to post and clear inside the 60 days.
- →Recurring debit card payments, person-to-person transfers, and instant payments do not count as the automatic draft. The draft has to run off the routing and account number.
- →Waive the $5 monthly fee by enrolling in eStatements, which requires Online Banking enrollment. The fee is checked on the final day of each statement cycle.
- →Do not change the account product type before the bonus pays. SouthState requires the account to be open under the same product type at payment time.
- →SouthState says residency restrictions may apply but does not publish the eligible states. The states listed here come from its FDIC branch footprint, so confirm availability in the application before you count on it.
