Requirements

Last verified: Aug 17, 2026

  1. Open checking with code 200BONUS

Open a new Members Checking or EcoChoice Checking account and give bonus code 200BONUS at the time the account is opened.

  2. $500 in total direct deposits

Receive direct deposits totaling $500 or more within 60 days of account opening. This is a cumulative total across the whole window, not a monthly minimum.

  3. One debit card purchase

The bonus is deposited into your Share Savings account within 30 days once every requirement is met, so budget up to about 90 days from opening.

Eligibility

Minimum age18+
Existing customersNot eligible

The primary applicant cannot have owned a Members EcoChoice or Checking account in the 12 months before applying, and has to be in good standing if already a member.

Other restrictions
  • Membership is open to people who live, work, worship, or attend school in Aitkin, Anoka, Beltrami, Carlton, Cass, Chisago, Cook, Crow Wing, Isanti, Itasca, Kanabec, Koochiching, Lake, Mille Lacs, Pine, Sherburne, Stearns, St. Louis, Washington, or Wright County in Minnesota, or Douglas County in Wisconsin.
  • Business owners in those counties, past and present credit union employees, and the spouse or blood or adoptive relative of a member also qualify for membership.
  • The bonus code has to be given at the time the account is opened. There is no way to add it afterward.

Tips & Gotchas

  • The bonus code has to be given while the account is being opened. There is no way to add it later, so have 200BONUS ready before you start.
  • The direct deposit requirement is cumulative. You need $500 in total across 60 days, not $500 a month, which makes this one of the lighter direct deposit bars around.
  • Only one debit card purchase is required. There is no swipe count to grind through.
  • The $200 lands in your Share Savings account, not your checking account, so check there when you go looking for it.
  • Membership is the real gate. You need a tie to one of 20 Minnesota counties or Douglas County, Wisconsin. That includes Twin Cities metro counties like Anoka, Washington, Sherburne, and Wright, so this reaches well beyond Duluth.
